Rainbow recently installed furniture into the basement space of a private investment company in Piccadilly.

The brief was to suggest products which enhanced the basement space so that it appeared bright and contemporary. The client also required as much storage as possible in the area.

Resolving the storage issue took a lot of planning; we were not able to take the storage up to the ceiling as the client did not want to have to change the lighting positions, plus the basement had been “tanked”, so nothing could be screwed or fixed into the walls. There was also IT and audio equipment that needed to be placed inside cabinets, so we had to design and manufacture additional storage items that would fit these, allowing for ventilation as well as fitting in with the overall look of the space.

We overcame all of the issues and the client was very pleased with the end result. The storage is totally flexible, so it can accommodate storage of items  varying in size and shape yet it remains extremely strong despite being completely free standing.

Despite our name, Rainbow don’t just design offices; our London library furniture packages are also a specialty  as documented in our case studies page (amongst many others!).

Our London library furniture clients have all been very happy; whether they are establishments for public use, educational, or childrens’ libraries. There is a lot of scope for character and personalisation, and a wide range of fun, comfortable seating products to complement more traditional items like shelving and staff furniture. Coffee tables and big, plush chairs are great for cosy reading areas. We are also able to supply wall-mounted and hanging graphics to add extra flavour to the space and increase its attractiveness to users and potential users alike.

We knew the economic climate was tough, but we never thought we’d have to resort to child labour!

The Rainbow kids recently got stuck in building a desk for us, to show everyone how easy it is. Ellie, Anthony, Adam and Ediz donned their orange uniforms and set to work with enthusiasm (after a little coaxing!) and did a great job matching the leg colours, screwing in the legs, and fitting the top.

We also caught a bit of behind the scenes footage of our diminutive workers interacting with some of our other furniture, and of course each other!

Tony and Peter recently went to a party thrown by one of our clients, and got the chance to meet one of Team GB’s ‘golden stars’ - Britain’s most successful female rower, Katherine Grainger MBE!

Katherine won her first Olympic gold medal on August 3rd in the women’s double sculls with her teammate Anna Watkins, breaking the Olympic record in the qualifiers.

Katherine was speaking at the event, thrown by Pitney Bowes Software, in the wake of her victory, and spent the afternoon chatting and socialising with the other guests and employees at the opening of their Rainbow-installed collaborative workspace; a multi-functional area for meetings (both formal in informal) and  staff relaxation.

She was a great advert for Britain’s Olympic heroes and sport in general.

2012 has been a great year for bespoke office furniture. We got off to a great start, and as the year has progressed, so our range of items has grown. What’s great is that we can tailor many items to your individual needs, or even work with you to create something completely new, as we did recently for a London-based advertising client.

On this project we installed these terrific tree-design bookcases, which serve as a creative way for the company to store their files and literature.

The design also extended to a range of wall-mounted and free-standing coat stands. The client said they they wanted to “bring the outside in”.

We also helped to come up with these ‘Scrabble Benches’ – with seats in the shape of the popular word game’s tile holders, with lettered cushions to mirror the tiles.

Established in 1984, Aura Lingerie has grown into an iconic design house, and is one of the UK’s leading lingerie suppliers. Rainbow Office Design was delighted to assist their London-based operation in fitting out their brand new office in the south-west.

As well as a range of classy white desking and meeting tables, the space was accented with a chic selection of screens, chairs and stools in hot pink, as well as some smart bespoke storage units, and it gives the office a fresh feel that will help inspire the company in the months and years to come.
