Rainbow recently installed furniture into the basement space of a private investment company in Piccadilly.

The brief was to suggest products which enhanced the basement space so that it appeared bright and contemporary. The client also required as much storage as possible in the area.

Resolving the storage issue took a lot of planning; we were not able to take the storage up to the ceiling as the client did not want to have to change the lighting positions, plus the basement had been “tanked”, so nothing could be screwed or fixed into the walls. There was also IT and audio equipment that needed to be placed inside cabinets, so we had to design and manufacture additional storage items that would fit these, allowing for ventilation as well as fitting in with the overall look of the space.

We overcame all of the issues and the client was very pleased with the end result. The storage is totally flexible, so it can accommodate storage of items  varying in size and shape yet it remains extremely strong despite being completely free standing.

If you have a challenging project, we will be pleased to help you.

Rainbow Office Design were lucky enough to be invloved in the prestigious project for Hackney’s Picture House Cinema on Mare Street. Rainbow worked together with both Fletcher Priest Architects and City Screens to create a funky, stylish interior for which we supplied the furniture.

The former Ocean building has been transformed into a 4000 square metre venue with four cinema screens, a café, upper level bars and facilities for community based organisations. The state-of the-art auditoria are equipped with 576 luxury seats and the best digital, 3D and satellite technology.

The design objective was to reuse and rethink as many of the existing spaces and materials as possible. This included removing side balconies and slabs to create larger and new space in Screens 1 and 2 respectively, while Screens 3 and 4 were inserted into existing studio spaces. Acoustic panels in the cinemas and bar areas have been refurbished throughout and furniture and materials been recovered and reused where possible.

Fresh and simple graphics in a limited colour and material palette create a new identity to the building. The graphic design has been utilised throughout from the large scale PICTURE HOUSE letters playfully announcing the venue along Mare Street.

Bisset Adams were commissioned to re-design the childrens’ area at Queen’s Park Library. Following a series of consultation workshops with local children and families, designs for the children’s library were drawn up to meet the users’ needs. These designs incorporate doors to reduce noise to the rest of the library, increased shelving, and flexible furniture which will allow the area to be used for events.

United House Limited – a leading niche developer with an enviable reputation for creating stylish, desirable homes that are amongst the most innovative in London – opened a new office in the heart of the West End.

United House Developments are so called because they have adopted a holistic attitude towards quality, service and environmental concerns throughout all of their projects; creating homes and buildings which make a positive contribution to the local area and the residents who live in them.

Often working in partnership with other developers, landowners, housing associations and local authorities, United House Developments are uncompromising in their pursuit of excellence and their aim of achieving an optimum living experience for all residents.

Rainbow Office Design worked very closely together with the Architect TP Bennett to find the right products for United House Ltd’s new offices in London. Keeping the architect’s vision in mind, Rainbow Office Design used their experience and specialised knowledge of products to help TP Bennett’s vision become a reality.

After months of proposing products, showroom visits and samples, the clients’ end decision was to use Vitra Workit desks and storage units, Charles & Ray Eames aluminium chairs to go around beautiful ICF glass boardroom and meeting room tables, Knoll Bertoia Diamond chairs and Platner side tables in breakout areas, Humanscale Liberty chairs used for all users, and Forma 5 executive desks and  Davison Highly armchairs in the CEO’s office on the fourth floor.

Bisset Adams were behind the interior design, which included a new study and internet room, a new children’s library, and a teen area for older children and teenagers.

Rainbow Office Design worked together with Bisset Adams to help propose furniture options that met the brief and the budget, as well as keeping the architect’s vision for this fantastic newly-refurbished library, which has been a great success since opening to the general public.

We supplied all of the library shelving, study desks, seating, break-out furniture from a range of manufacturers, children’s furniture, bespoke seating unit, and all of the floor and wall graphics.

The world-renowned author Ken Follett wanted to move his office out of the stable buildings in his residence and into a “modern office environment”.

We pitched for the project against several companies and were awarded the contract because it was felt that we understood exactly what was required at the office and the client felt comfortable working with us.

They had bespoke storage in their existing offices and we were able to recreate this for them in a more contemporary style and finish in the new offices, making the transition from office to office as easy as possible for everyone.

We also provided a superb media wall solution for their boardroom and as per the Close Brothers project, the furniture supplied is totally modular, maling it easy to reconfigure or remove the table and chairs whenever needed.

The project was a great success and was very well received by all the people working there.
